Zachary Williams

Last Thursday on Allen Street I saw a small crowd outside the Rockwood Music Hall which hosts a half dozen acts every night, no cover, no minimum. Through the glass streetwall I can see Zachary Williams and his tight band up on stage sounding really good. In two weeks Williams will travel with Ben Folds through the South, and this night he rocked. I recorded my useless attempt to get in.

Chile Cookoff

When Mrs Tourist and I decided to be a tourist somewhere other than New York City, we drove to Old Saybrook, Connecticut and accidentally stumbled into the 2010 Chile-Fest. We got to sample ten of the 31 chiles and I took this photo of our favorite booth and favorite chef who made our most favorite chile. It turned out to be everybody's favorite, too -- he took the top prize. I'll have my audio posted in a day or two.

Winter 2010

Everybody likes to talk about snow and there's another foot-and-a-half falling right now, as I type at 5:45am. But it's not too soon to take a nice photo of New Yorkers who know how to handle it: making a snowman in Battery Park. Behind them is the little Catholic Church at the foot of Manhattan, a shrine to Elizabeth Seton, our American Saint. And who are these artists? I don't know. When I finished the picture they ran off throwing snowballs at each other.

This is a good time to link to the Daily Snowman.
